This week, we will be hacking the algorithm to grow fast. We’ll focus on one factor: engagement. When Instagram decides whether or not to promote your page, the most crucial growth metric is its Engagement Rate. In other words: Getting better engagement on Instagram is the most effective growth strategy in 2022.

In the video I show you how Instagram promotes your content when it reaches 10%. This will lead to a faster growth rate and greater reach. The issue is, however that boosting engagement can be one of the most difficult processes on IG.

This strategy, which boosts engagement, is more effective once you have between 2,500 and 3,500 followers. That’s when your page will be eligible for the Explore page.

While it is not easy to grow your engagement, this will really make a difference in the growth rate of your page. My TrapTheory101 Page had over 10,000 people following me in a single month when I was able to maintain an engagement of between 5-10%. For a page with 50K followers, 10,000 is a significant growth rate.

But I was complacent. As I sat on the back-end of all that growth, it was easy to forget about essential tasks that kept my engagement high. My engagement is declining over the last few months and so has my reach.

The relationship between engagement and growth became apparent to me. My growth was greatest when I had a great engagement. My growth declined when my engagement fell.

This trend has been observed with pages I manage. Your posts that get a lot of engagements will perform well in the algorithm and will be more visible by people.

The question is, how can you increase engagement on Instagram?

*I will be honest and say it outright: It is often the most dangerous thing you can do.

Here are some ways to increase engagement.

1. Your audience’s peak hours are the best times to post your content. You can view the insights of your page to see when your audience is online and active. This data can be used to align your posts with the schedules of your audience. Consider this scenario: You want to get 10% engagement and only 6% are online. How can you expect to reach that 10% consistently? If you don’t strategically post at the peak time of your followers, it’s more difficult to achieve your engagement goals.

2. Carousels, Reels get more engagement than other types of posts. Instagram is favoring these post types right now. These formats are best for increasing engagement. A short reel will have a higher watch-time percentage than traditional videos that are longer. Your followers will spend more time flipping through 10 slides than they would looking at one image. This is the lesson: Help Instagram keep their goal of keeping people entertained longer and you’ll get more engagement.

3. POST GOOD CONTENT. It’s a difficult question because I don’t have much to offer people in other niches. However, you should aim for emotion and value through your content. Consider this: Is it content people will enjoy or resonate with? My experience shows that memes and humorous content are the most successful. Humor can be used to communicate a lot of things. This is also a good place to look for pages that have been thriving in your field. It’s not hard to see why they are so successful. You might be able to take some inspiration from them and make your own version.

4. To increase engagement, you should remove ghost followers. You can remove inactive followers who are only viewing your content but not engaging with it. This will increase your engagement percentage. Because you are removing followers, this won’t help your engagement. However, if you take out the inactive followers (the ones that aren’t engaged), your engagement percentage will increase.

5. Some creators create a call to action for engagement. If you have a valuable page, this is a great strategy. Sometimes people forget to interact with your content. Reminding them of this can help a lot. Please, don’t be sleazy.
